Our Beekeepers and Advisors
Our beekeepers are people of this land, from Ruatahuna, Te Manawa-
o-te-Ika, who know and understand our forest. We are committed to
training and developing more of our people to become beekeepers for
our honey business. Nick Mitai (centre right) leads our beekeeping
team and has been managing our beekeeping operation since 2011. Te
Uamairangi Rangihau (centre left) has come into beekeeping in the last
year, working with Nick during the 2012-13 season. Our beekeeping
team operates with advice from Norm and Mary Dean (left and right
respectively) of Tauranga who are long-experienced beekeepers.
Norm and Mary and others have been impressed by the natural ability
of our beekeepers from Te Manawa-o-te-Ika-a reflection we think of
the tradition of forest honey-gathering.
